Overview:  The first generation of the small-scale continuous tube / screw designs were installed as an onboard waste processing solution to handle mixed solids ship wastes. These systems were proven to effectively reduce time spent in port off-loading stored wastes, in addition to reducing the health hazards of storing waste while at sea. These systems were tested and proven for several years before they were fully commissioned.
